What a Fun filled Interview Day

Well, this post is dedicated to my new IIMs interview as that is the only thing that has been on my mind since a couple of days.

So I wake up in the morning at around 5:30 am. The interview is scheduled at 9 am and I have to reach the destination before that. It takes around one and a half hour from my place to reach the institute (IFMR college). I brush my teeth and realize that its too early to get ready. I switch on the laptop and find nothing interesting to do. Finally I decide to watch the movie "Sarkar Raj" to pass some time. After 30 mins of the movie I realize its too late and get ready in a hurry. At sharp 7 I am on the local train along with Mr. Divyanshu Patel who had assured me that he shall accompany me to the interview. The train is jam packed and I am unable to consume the 2 bananas brought by my dear friend. Nor am I able to read the newspaper which was planned to be done on the train.

So we reach the destination (ate the bananas on the way from the station to the institute) and I prepare myself for the challenge ahead (damn I look good in a suit). The first task is the Written Ability Test (WAT) which I am pretty confident about. At 9:30 am the sheets are distributed and the WAT topic is announced, "Tax-breaks in savings instruments such as NSC should be abolished". I don't have the slightest clue as to what the topic means and what does NSC stand for. I ask the person sitting next to me about the full form of NSC but he tends to ignore me. Somehow I figure out what the topic actually means and manage to write something related to the topic. After the papers have been collected, I realize that more than 90% of the people did not have a clue about the topic which gave me a slight relief.

Next up is the interview for which I had to wait for around two hours though I was just the fifth person in my panel list. I spend that time chatting with another friend who coincidentally had the interview on the same day. Finally, I am called in for the interview by a young panel member (age between 30-40). Other panel members  consisted of two elderly sir. The interview lasted for around 20 minutes having discussions on mainly two topics, Cricket and Engines.

The Cricket discussion was aimed at Sachin where they were trying to prove that he is not a great sportsperson and I was contradicting the point. The discussion lasted for 10 minutes after which they started asking about petrol and diesel engines. The questions were simple and they were trying to confuse me but I came out to be the winner on both the topics. Overall, I had fun all the way through the interview and so did the interviewers.

The end of the interview was such a relief as it marked the end of an era for me. The rest of the Day involved eating at MacD and watching Pan Singh Tomar along with Mr. Divyanshu Patel.

My First Post

Well, this is surely my first post on this blog but it isn't the first of my life. I had started a blog considering it as a personal diary but unfortunately that turned out be a fail blog. I consider it as a fail attempt not because no one ever visited that blog but because even I couldn't find time to update it. All Thanks to my MBA Aspirations.

One year of complete grueling and torture and still I have no idea as to who is the winner at the end. The IIM interview tomorrow may give me a small idea about my chances but even after the interview, the chances are always 50%(basic probability question). See, That is how the mind of a person works once he gives the CAT and prepares for his GD PIs(now WAT CaseStudy GD PIs).

The one question that might be arising in your mind will be, "What is this guy doing writing a blog when he has an IIM interview the next day." Well, I do not want to brag about it but I feel pretty confident about my preparations. And even if I may not be fully prepared, it is always said that one should never stress one's mind on the day before an exam or an interview(or any big occasion). So that's what I am doing, not taking any stress and not preparing for my interview. But only GOD knows what I have been through while preparing for my CAT, giving my CAT, and preparing for my interviews.

A more detailed analysis on my next post! Cheers!
